Cholera killed 20 people in Bauchi

According to him, the index case was a 37-year-old housewife, that had been declared at the Burra General Hospital on April 24, 2021, in Ningi Local Government Area.

He said upon her entrance, it was discovered that there was an outbreak of a similar disease in neighbouring communities like Sumaila and other council areas of Kano State, which could have spread into Bauchi.

The girl was said to have complained of abdominal pain, watery diarrhoea and vomiting which was successfully handled before she was afterwards discharged alongside others.

He explained further that eight local government areas in the country recorded a total of 322 cases in one month, including that the case fatality rate is now 6.2 per cent.

The commissioner said after intensive surveillance by the officers of the ministry through the State Main Healthcare Development Agency, cases were detected in Warji, Bauchi, Giade and Toro local government areas of the nation.
